Essential DIY Wedding Must Haves to Create Your Dream Day Part 1
When we decided to have a DIY wedding, we knew it would take a little more effort and creativity — but what we didn’t expect was just how meaningful (and fun) the process would be. Every ribbon tied, every decor placed, every sign lettered — it all felt personal. It felt like us.
So, if you’re planning your own hands-on celebration, here are the DIY must-haves that truly brought our day to life — without blowing the budget.
It began in my small crafting area with a stack of card stock, a few Tiktok tutorials, and way too much scratch paper. I designed our invitations using Canva, printed them using my epson ET-2800, and even hand-addressed the envelopes (with sore wrists but happy hearts).
Decorating was hands-down my favorite part. I spent 2 weeks scouring facebook marketplace for chair sashes, floral decors and others. Our centerpieces were simple and borrowed from our friend who lend a hand on the planning.
One of my favorite DIY projects? The signage. I made all of ours from plywood, vinyl, and faux florals — and honestly, they turned out better than I imagined.
I eyeballed the size I wanted (not the most precise method, but it worked), gave the wood a rich stain, then designed the layouts using a font I found online. And yes — I finally put my Cricut to good use! I already had it, so it was the perfect excuse to break it out and get crafting again.
The result? Personalized signs for everything from the welcome board to direction signages — all tied together with a touch of brown & burnt orange and a lot of character. It felt so good seeing guests stop to admire something I made with my own hands.
Just Remember "with the right mind and determination, you could do anything".
